Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced special savings at nine of
its world-famous golf resorts to celebrate the completion of the
challenging new course, designed by Thomas McBroom, at The Algonquin.
Golf has been a favorite activity here for 106 years in the historic
town of St. Andrew's By-the-Sea, in New Brunswick, Canada. The June
2000 issue of Conde Nast Traveler magazine rate Fairmont Hotels
& Resorts among the top 50 Best Golf Resorts in the United States,
the Caribbean and beyond. The rankings? Chateau Whistler: #17, The
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess: #46, and Jasper Park Lodge: #47.
The Algonquin, St. Andrew's By-the-Sea,
New Brunswick, Canada
The Algonquin's new 18-hole, par 71 golf course features seaside
topography, ocean-front holes with a 50-foot elevation drop from
tee to green, a preserved Native Indian archaeological site, stunning
vistas and Canada's oldest clubhouse. The Algonquin Golf Package
includes overnight accommodations, greens fees for two, breakfast
for two and an in-room welcome basket.
Rates: from $220 CDN (about $133 USD) per person through October
31, 2000.
Jasper Park Lodge, Jasper, Alberta
With the Canadian Rockies as the backdrop and sightings of elk or
bear on the fairway, the Jasper Park Lodge golf course offers discerning
golfers a unique experience. The Jasper Park Lodge 75th Anniversary
Golf Package is an all inclusive package featuring two nights' accommodations,
one round of golf per day, golf cart rental, reserved tee times,
club storage, a 75th anniversary commemorative gift and gratuities.
Rates: from $961 CDN ($650 USD) per person, per two-day package,
double occupancy through October 2000.
Le Château Montebello, Montebello, Quebec
Designed by Stanley Thompson in 1929, Le Château Montebello golf
course rests on the lower slopes of Westcott Mountain. It features
several holes carved out of pure granite rock. Le Château Montebello
Golf Package includes overnight accommodations, one round of golf
for two including golf cart rental, dinner for two (Table d'hote
dinner in Aux Chantignoles or barbecue on the terrace), full buffet
breakfast for two, ten percent off merchandise at the pro shop and
a welcome gift.
Rates: from $404 CDN (about $289 USD) per night, including taxes.
The package runs until mid-October 2000. A minimum two-night stay
for Saturday arrival is required.
The Royal York Hotel, Toronto, Ontario
The Royal York's Ultimate Royal Golf Package includes two nights'
accommodations on the Entree Gold floor (Royal York's hotel-within-a-hotel),
one round of golf for two at one of Toronto's exclusive golf courses
(either Glen Abbey or Lionhead Golf & Country Club), personal hotel
concierge, "Golfers Pre-Game Breakfast," personal driver & limo
for golf excursion, power cart rental and club cleaning, cold beverages
in the clubhouse after the game, hors d'oeuvres and refreshments
back at the hotel, Royal York golf shirt and all taxes related to
the package.
Rates: from $2,350 CDN for two people (about $1,654 USD) until October
31, 2000.
Banff Springs Golf Course, Banff, Alberta
Situated in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains,
the Banff Springs Golf Course features holes that skirt the Bow
River under the snowcapped peaks of surrounding mountains. The Banff
Springs Ultimate Golf Retreat includes deluxe accommodations, 18
holes of golf a day, three meals per day, spa admission, golf academy
sessions daily, Calloway steel or graphite rentals and all gratuities.
Rates: from $819 CDN (about $585 USD) per room all season, double
occupancy. A minimum two-night stay is required.
Chateau Whistler Resort, Whistler, British
Columbia
The Chateau Whistler Resort features a rugged links-style course
that traverses mountain ledges, crosses rushing streams, and sits
at the foot of Blackcomb Mountain - the tallest vertical slope in
North America. The Chateau Whistler Golf Package includes overnight
accommodations and one round of golf at the Chateau Whistler Golf
Club. Rates: from $284 CDN (approximately $192 USD) per person based
on double occupancy until September 17, 2000. From September 18
through October 9, 2000, rates start from $219 CDN (about USD $148)
per person based on double occupancy.
The Four Course Golf Package includes four nights' accommodations,
one round of golf at Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Nicklaus North
Golf Course, Big Sky Golf & Country Club, and Whistler Golf Club
and dinner for two in The Wildflower or Portobello restaurants.
Rates: from $1,258 CDN (about $847 USD) through September 17, 2000.
From September 18 through October 9, 2000, rates start from $718
CDN (about $484 USD). Rates are per person, double occupancy.
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, Scottsdale,
Ariz.
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Royal Tee Package includes standard
room accommodations; two rounds of golf on guest's choice of five
partner golf courses including the Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale
Stadium Course (home of the annual Phoenix Open), Eagle Mountain
Golf Club, SunRidge Canyon, Wildfire Golf Club and Kierland Golf
Club; daily breakfast; admission to the Spa & Fitness Center; daily
golf club storage; and golf cart rental. Rates start from $257 USD
per night until September 8, 2000 and $418 USD per night from September
9 to December 21, 2000. All package rates are based on double occupancy
and require a minimum two-night stay.
The Fairmont Southampton Princess, Bermuda
Bermuda features more golf per square mile than any other country
in the world. The Fairmont Southampton Princess offers access to
two of Bermuda's golf courses: Port Royal and Riddell's Bay. The
Fairmont Southampton Princess Golf Package includes unlimited golf
on the hotel's 18-hole, par three executive course, two rounds of
golf on Port Royal and/or the Riddell's Bay course, daily full American
breakfast, welcome drinks, club cleaning & storage, ten percent
discount at the golf pro shop, souvenir golf balls & towel, admission
to the resort's fitness center, daily social activities program,
one round-trip ferry transfer per person to The Fairmont Hamilton

Le Manoir Richelieu golf course was designed by Herbert Strong and
inaugurated by former American President William H. Taft in 1925.
